voltage drop
In French: chute de tension
Definition
The loss of voltage along a cable, caused by its resistance: the longer, thinner or more loaded the cable, the lower the voltage at the last fixture. For a two-conductor cable it is about twice the length, times the current, times the resistance per metre. It is reduced with a heavier gauge, shorter runs or a hub.

- voltage loss
- line loss
