low-voltage transformer
In French: transformateur basse tension
Definition
A device plugged into 120 V that supplies about 12 V to landscape fixtures. Multi-tap models (for example 12, 13, 14 and 15 V) make up for voltage drop on long runs. It is sized above the total fixture load, following the maximum load its maker states; a photocell or timer switches it on and off.
