How we compute

  • The typical price is the median of the typical values of comparable observations, in the same unit. A 10 t load and a 5 t load are never mixed, unless the source lets us bring them back to a price per tonne.
  • Low and high are the lowest and highest observed prices: the range shows the real spread between suppliers. It is not a probability.
  • For a region, we keep observations made in the region, in the market zones that contain it, and prices valid across Quebec. With no local observation at all, the province-wide value is shown and the grade drops one step.
  • Observations older than 12 months stay visible, but they lower the confidence grade. No index adjustment is applied yet: the original price and its date are shown as they are.
  • Values are before taxes. Contractor prices are never published one by one.
