paysagement

grading

In French: nivellement

Definition

The work that gives the ground the heights and slopes you want: lower the high spots, fill the hollows, compact, then shape the final surface. Good grading moves water away from buildings and on to the street, a swale or an area that absorbs it, without sending it to the neighbour.
